Burr Named to Maryland Governor's Task Force
March 4, 2014: Microgrid Institute Director Michael Burr was appointed to the "Resiliency through Microgrids" Task Force, which Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley established on February 25.
Led by O'Malley Energy Advisor Abigail Hopper, the Task Force will study the statutory, regulatory, financial, and technical barriers to the deployment of microgrids in Maryland. The effort builds on recommendations from the Grid Resiliency Task Force's report issued in September 2012. The Task Force expects to develop a road map to assist entities to explore microgrid development in Maryland.
“Many communities and customer groups in Maryland face energy reliability and survivability challenges,” Burr said. “We applaud Gov. O'Malley's leadership in addressing questions affecting how microgrids can help address Maryland's resiliency needs, and look forward to participating in this important collaboration.”
